Winter Fixture List

 26 October 2013

The fixture list for the 2013/2014 winter season has been available on the club website since August but an overview of the various events is available below. There is also a printable fixture list at the bottom of the page.

Indoor Track & Field Fixtures:
The main indoor "track & field" events for all club athletes will be the Scottish Athletics Indoor League, with matches in December, January and February at the Emirates Indoor Arena in Glasgow. Availability/selection details for the first match will be available in late November. All athletes training on a Wednesday night are expected to take part in the Indoor League.
For additional competition there is a National Indoor Open Meeting in January, and for higher level competition there are National Championships throughout February and early March. Further details about registering for these events will be posted on the club website during the Winter season.
The Scottish Schools Indoor Championships is on Thursday 6th February. Any athletes wanting to take part should contact their PE teacher. Only two age groups are used, U16 and O16, so the event probably isn't suitable for S1 athletes.
For U12 athletes (born 2003/2004) there is an U12 SuperTeams Championships in February. This requires teams of 4 boys or 4 girls, with every athlete doing a run, jump and throw plus a 4x200m relay.

Cross-Country Fixtures:
The main cross country events for all groups are the three East District League matches with the second round at Alloa in November and the third round at Broxburn in January. There is no selection or pre-entry for this league, any club member can turn up on the day and compete.
For additional "open" competition for all ages there is the Lasswade Open Cross Country races on Sunday 10th November at Gorebridge, Midlothian.
For higher level competition for U13s and above, there are Championships throughout the Winter. The East District Championships are in Dundee in December, the Masters Championships are at Hawick in February and the Nationals are in Falkirk three weeks later.

Age Groups:
Cross Country age groups for Winter 2013/2014 are the same as the track age groups for Summer 2013.
Indoor League age groups are the same as the track age groups for next Summer 2014.
National Indoor events will use the IAAF age groups: U12 (2003/2004); U14 (2001/2002); U16 (1999/2000); U18 (1997/1998); U20 (1995/1996); SEN (1994 and before).
The Scottish Schools Indoor age groups are U16 (born on or after 01/09/98) and O16 (born before 01/09/98).
