Scottish National Age Group Championships

For the first time in recent years, the Scottish National Age Group Championships were moved outside the Central Belt with Aberdeen the chosen venue for the event on 17th/18th August.

The four hour round trip didn't deter the Livingston athletes, with nine juniors from the club competing over the weekend.

The wet and windy conditions weren't ideal for setting personal bests, but there were strong performance from the Livingston contingent including medal wins for Shawn Wright and Chloe McAlear!

The under 14 and under 18 events were on the Saturday. In the u14 girls 100m, Chloe McAlear won her heat in 14.48 to progress to the final. In the final Chloe finished 2nd to collect a Silver medal with a time of 13.98.

In the 200m, Chloe also progressed to the final after running 29.12 in her heat. Chloe narrowly missed a second medal in the final, finishing 4th in 28.47.

In the u14 girls 1500m Sarah Calvert was 5th in the final with a time of 5:15.48.

In the u18 events, Andrew Mitchell was 4th in his 800m heat in 2:08.41. Grant Kirkwood was 7th in his 100m heat in 13.23 and set a personal best in the discus with a throw of 27.34m which placed him 5th.

On Sunday the under 16 and under 20 took place. Three of the club's u16 female sprinters lined up against each other in heat 4 of the 100m. Robyn Fairley finished 4th in 14.01, Hazel Shanley was 5th in 14.02 and Sydney Nicholson was 7th in 14.35.

In the 200m, Robyn was 3rd in her heat in 28.62 and Sydney was 4th in her heat in 30.47.

Taygan Henry finished the long jump in 11th place with a best jump of 4.45m and was 4th in her 80m hurdles heat in 13.71.

In the u20 men 400m, Shawn Wright successfully defended his title, crossing the line 1st in 50.12 to collect a Gold medal.
