East District Championships Results

Twelve Livingston athletes were at Meadowbank Stadium, Edinburgh, on the last weekend of May for the Scottish East District Championships. With the Edinburgh Marathon on the Sunday, the District Championships took place on the Friday night and Saturday.

Congratulations to the club's three double medal winners.

In the u14 events, Chloe McAlear won two bronze medals with 3rd places in the 200m and hammer. Chloe won her 200m heat in 28.52 and was 3rd in the final in 28.28. In the hammer Chloe threw 21.83m to finish 3rd again.

Taygan Henry won two bronze medals in the u16 events. Taygan was 3rd in the 80m hurdles in 13.53 and 3rd in the long jump, narrowly missing a personal best with a distance of 4.50m.

In the senior events, Sharon Grierson set a personal best and won a silver medal with a 6.75m throw in the shot putt. Sharon also threw 15.30m in the javelin to win a bronze medal.

In other highlights from the weekend, four other Livingston athletes reached the finals of their events after progressing through the heats.

Sarah Calvert finished 3rd in her 800m heat in 2:35.30 to qualify for the final in which she was 4th in 2:35.18. Sarah was also 5th in the 1500m final in 5:11.37.

Tia Henry set a personal best in her 100m heat finishing 3rd in 14.02 and was 8th in the final with 14.3. Tia was also 4th in the hammer with a best throw of 16.14m and narrowly missed a medal in the 75m hurdles too, finishing 4th in 13.08.

In the u16 sprints, Hazel Shanley was 4th in her heat with a time of 13.37 which secured her a place in the final. Hazel was 2nd in the final with a wind assisted best of 13.2. In her 200m heat, Hazel was 2nd with a personal best of 27.61 and 7th in the final in 27.93.

Andrew Mitchell ran 2:06.99 in the u18 800m heats to finish 4th and qualify for the final. Andrew ran close to his PB In the final, finishing 5th in 2:04.99.

There were also personal best performances over the weekend from Grant Kirkwood with a time of 26.31 in the u18 200m; Audrey Shanks-Rubinos in the u18 800m in 2:50.45; Jade Wilson in the u18 javelin with a distance of 16.76m and in the long jump with 3.86m; and Sydney Nicholson in the u16 100m with a time of 14.02 and the 200m with 29.64.
