Are you interested in helping officiate?

The next officials training courses are being held by Scottish Athletics at Grangemouth on Sunday 4th November. The club pay all course fees.

You can choose which officiating discipline to specialise in: field judge, track judge, timekeeper or starter/marksman. If you have had some experience in officiating or know which discipline you want to specialize in then this course is for you. You will learn the general rules, where to stand and how to record performances in both a practical and lecture setting.

The course covers the basics in all disciplines: judging principles of throws, jumps, track judging, timekeeping and starting. It is designed to develop team work stills and to provide a basic understanding of the fundamental rules of officiating so you can assist qualified officials at athletics events.

The club have a constant requirement for officials as league affiliation rules mean we need to provide a minimum number of officials at every match. We actually lose match points by not providing enough officials! This can be the difference between promotion and relegation.

The club would like to expand our pool of officials and get more parents involved in supporting the league teams.
