Central & South of Scotland Athletics League

 6 November 2008

We're pleased to announce that for the 2008/2009 outdoor season, Livingston & District AAC will be rejoining the Central & South of Scotland Athletics League (CSSAL).

The CSSAL consists of three matches held in April, May and August, and offers competition opportunities for both male & female athletes in every age category, from under 11 to masters.

With the club's membership numbers growing rapidly over the last few months, re-entry to the CSSAL will offer much need additional competition opportunities for our athletes.

Entry to the CSSAL also gives our athletes the opportunity to compete against a wider variety of clubs, with the CSSAL's complement of West Coast and Glaswegian teams offering a diverse alternative to both the Forth Valley League and Lothian & Borders League.

The club's last outing in the CSSAL was at Wishaw in August 2007. After the result of matches one and two left us in a relegation dogfight, the club convincingly avoid the drop with a 3rd place finish in match three, thanks to a toxic combination of: a full strength team, our athletes resilience to the torrential rain and a bit of the famous Livingston & District "Dunkirk spirit"!

It shows what the club can achieve when everyone works together. Let's hope for similar excitement in the coming season!
