Scottish Schools Indoor Championships

Five athletes were in Glasgow again last Thursday for the Schools Indoor Championships, with the Kelvin Hall Arena feeling like a second home to them over the winter months!

In the u16 girls events, Taygan Henry was 3rd in her 200m heat, narrowly missing a personal best with a time of 30.43, and 18th in the high jump, equalling her best of 1.35m.

Three club athletes were competing in the u16 boys events. In the shot putt, Robbie Nairn threw the 4kg shot a massive 15.51m to annihilate the field and pick up a gold medal!

Jake Thomas ran a personal best of 2:06.17 in the 800m to finish 2nd in his heat and qualify for the final. In a fast and competitive final, Jake broke his personal best again with a time of 2:04.03 securing him a bronze medal.

In the other u16 boys events, Andrew Mitchell was 3rd in his 400m heat with a time of 59.90 and 4th overall in the long jump with a new personal best of 5.24m.

Shawn Wright was competing in three o16 boys events; long jump, 200m and 400m. Shawn was 8th overall in the long jump, narrowly missing a new best with a jump of 5.55m. In the 200m, Shawn was 2nd in his heat with 24.15 to qualify for the semi final in which he ran 24.44. In the 400m heats, Shawn won his heat with a personal best of 52.41 to qualify for the next round. Another strong performance in the semis with a time of 52.68 secured Shawn a place in the final where he won a bronze medal.
