Triple bronze for Livingston athlete Matthew Power!
Senior para-athlete Matthew Power acquired a trio of bronze medals at the 2024 Virtus European Athletics Championships held in Uppsala, Sweden, last week.
Matthew, a T20 classified athlete, added to his 100m and 200m bronzes with a third as part of the 4X400m relay team. Just 45 minutes after the 200m final he ran the third leg of the 4x400m men's event, in which the team bagged the bronze with a time of 3:44.23, behind Spain and Italy.
It marks a successful competition for the 24-year athlete. As previously reported, he was lying fourth fastest in the 100m heats with a season's best of 11.55. Fifty minutes later he ran a wind assisted 11.22 to take the first of three bronze medals.
In the 200m final he finished third with a time of 23.51 (second in the heat the previous day with 23.18).
The Virtus European Athletics Championships was organised by the Swedish Athletics Federation, sanctioned by Virtus (World) and World Para Athletics.
The Championships is part of the Virtus Europe regional programme, with Virtus Europe being affiliated to Virtus (World), the global organisation that promotes elite sport for athletes with an intellectual impairment.
