Well done to Matthew Power and Finlay Menzies who represented Livingston AC at the UK Athletics Coventry Spring Meet, a para-athletics competition held at the University of Warwick over the weekend of 27-28 April.
A strong headwind buffeted both athletes on the Saturday but despite this Finlay (T72) ran his fastest 100m for two years in the heats of the men's frame running competition with a time of 19.09, despite a -2.2 m/s headwind.
Matthew (T20) ran 12.05 in his ambulant men's 100m heat, despite a -2.4 m/s wind speed. Later in the afternoon when the wind had dropped slightly, he placed first in the ambulant men's 200m final with a time of 24.10.
Finlay's 400m final on Saturday proved a learning experience with a lane infringement, but great effort nevertheless, proving how challenging it is to maintain lane discipline with a running frame.
In Sunday's events Finlay placed fourth in the men's 100m frame running final (19.10) a major achievement against strong competition. Matthew placed first in the ambulant men's mixed category 100m final with 11.74, third place overall, but first T20 athlete.
Finlay topped an action-packed weekend of racing for both Livingston athletes, with second place and a PB in the 800m final of the men's frame running competition with a time of 3:04.12.
