Competing for the GB athletics teams, Matthew Power arrived in Vichy, France, earlier this week for the Virtus Global Games.
Matthew finished his 100m heat on Tuesday in 2nd place with 11.61 to qualify for the semi-finals. In the semis, Matthew finished his race 4th in a personal best of 11.40 to secure a place in the finals.
On Wednesday, in the 100m final, Matthew had another strong run finishing 4th in 11.55.
Matthew campaign continued on Thursday with the 200m heats. Matthew finished his heat in second place with a personal best of 22.79 to secure a place in the final!
In the final on Friday, Matthew had another strong run, finishing 5th in 23.37 into a -2.7 m/s head wind.
Well done to Matthew for a week of amazing performances!
With the cost of participation at this event being self-funded, the club board were delighted to support Matthew's participation at an international event with a grant of £500.
