Club Events - How Can You Help?

 27 August 2016

The club organise a popular series of six track and field competitions at Craigswood during the summer, and have two cross country events planned for October and November, giving club members a wide range of local competition opportunity.

It takes a big team of officials and helpers to run these competitions, with between 40 and 50 volunteers on duty at each event, but these are usually the same people helping at every event...

In a recent survey of guest competitors from other clubs, over half the respondents commented on the team of friendly and helpful volunteers that help make the club events successful.

Would you like to join the team?

Officials

Every track and field competition requires around 25 officials and helpers for field events and at least another 10 volunteers for track events.

While the officials will run the events, additional helpers are always required on both the track and field for tasks like raking the sandpits, holding measuring tapes, returning shots/javelins or helping with relay changeovers.

No previous experience is required and the officials will give full guidance to new helpers.

Declarations

If you'd prefer to help inside, you could join our efficient and friendly declarations team, helping to get athletes swiftly registered for their event and dealing with queries from competitors and parents.

Teas / Baking

The club events also have a growing reputation for first class hospitality, with a hot drink and spread of home baking providing a welcome treat after a hard race.

The next club event is on Sunday 11 September, if you would like to get involved, please speak to Alistair for more information.
