Club Championship Highlights

 2 October 2014

The annual Club Championships were held at Craigswood over two weeks ago with a record entry of 212 athletes providing an exciting climax to the outdoor track and field season.

This year, in addition to the usual entries from Lothian RC, Linlithgow AAC and other local clubs, we also hosted athletes from Falkirk Victoria Harriers, as their track at Grangemouth Stadium was closed for refurbishment.

The extra competition was a definite catalyst for spurring the Livingston athletes into some fantastic performances with 65 club athletes setting improved personal bests, 9 athletes setting seasons bests and 125 medals won!

As always at competitions there will be disappointment too for those who narrowly missed setting a best or winning a medal, but the committed athletes and coaches who use that as motivation to put their energy into training harder and smarter over the next 12 months will reap the benefits next year.

The feedback from those visiting Craigswood throughout the season for the club's competitions continues to be overwhelmingly positive, and for this we owe thanks to the great team of officials and volunteers we have at the club - there were over 50 people helping in various roles at the championships - the events simply wouldn't happen without your support!

But even if you weren't volunteering, every athlete, coach and parent has a role to play in making the events, and the club, a successful and positive environment.

Well done again to all the athletes for making the 2014 Club Championships another superb day of club athletics, and congratulations to everyone who won medals or set new bests:
