National Junior Indoor Relay Champs Results

The club entered a record six teams in the Scottish National Junior Indoor Relay Championships which took place on Sunday at the Emirates Indoor Arena in Glasgow.

It was a successful day for the club with three of the six teams reaching the finals, an overall club record broken and all the selected athletes putting in outstanding performances.

The u14 girls team of Tia Henry, Sarah Calvert, Natasha Farrell and Rebecca Calder won their heat in 1:58.13 to qualify for the semi-finals. In the semis the girls won their race again with a time of 1:57.76 to secure a place in the final. In a very close final the girls finished 5th in 1:58.79.

In the u14 boys event, the team of Jamie Stove, David Threlfall, Harrison Spence and Aidan Brady finished 3rd in their heat with a time of 1:57.77 which also secured them a place in the final. The boys finished 4th in the final, narrowly missing a medal with a time of 2:00.09.

The u16 girls team of Hazel Shanley, Taygan Henry, Chloe McAlear and Robyn Fairley also won their heat with a time of 1:50.41 to progress to the semi-finals and set a new overall club record. In the semis, the girls were second in their race which secured a place in the final and their time of 1:49.65 was also another overall club record. In the final the girls finished 6th with a time of 1:50.41.

In the u16 boys event, the team of Oliver Threlfall, Adam Kirkwood, Nathan Campbell and Ewan Ballantyne finished their heat 4th in 1:52.63. Despite a thrilling final leg from Ewan, the boys narrowly missed out on progressing to the final.

The u18 womens team of Sydney Nicholson, Cheryl Lees, Chloe Naismith and Nikisha Wright were 3rd in their heat with a time of 1:52.48.

In the u18 mens event, the team of Robbie Oag, Matthew Eadie, Grant Kirkwood and Moses Munthali were also 3rd in their heat with a time of 1:39.83.
