 19 January 2009

Just three weeks after match one, 28 Livingston athletes headed back to Glasgow for round two of the Scottish Athletics Indoor League.

Despite having only one Wednesday night training session between the two matches, the athletes once again put in some notable performances.

Highlights included; Gemma Hummerstone's 1st place finish in the under 11 girls 600m, running 2:04.0 in what was her "track and field" debut for the club and her first ever 600m; Robbie Nairn throwing 7.10m to win the under 13 boys shot putt; Vicky Dalziel's 2nd place finish in the under 17 women's shot putt, throwing 8.47m; and Scott Henderson's personal best of 8.61m in the under 15 boys triple jump, which put him comfortably into 2nd place.

Several other athletes also managed personal bests; Chloe French ran the 60m in a time of 10.01; Yasmin Eddie jumped 2.60m in the under 13 girls long jump; Vicky Dalziel ran 9.89 in the under 17 womens 60m hurdles to finish in 3rd place; Megan Laing threw 4.86m in the under 13 girls shot putt; Zoe Houston jumped 1.10m in the under 15 girls high jump, while Katie McKain jumped 1.30m in the under 17 event; and in the under 11 boys standing long jump, Craig Ballantine and Gavin Angus put the experience of match one to good use with jumps of 1.42m and 1.30m.

There were also a few new athletes competing for the club for the first time; well done to Sam Reid, Leah Stewart and Sophia Neill.
