Eight Livingston athletes were back in Glasgow last Saturday for the National Indoor Open Meeting - the first scottishathletics event of the indoor season.

The event was run in an "Open Graded" format for the second year, with all track & field event seeded by performance (not age) to help athletes get a competitive competition and achieve personal bests.

On the straight track there were personal bests for Scott Henderson and Chloe McAlear in the 60m, both who had already set new bests in the 60m at the previous Indoor League match! Scott finished 3rd in his heat with a new best of 7.33 while Chloe finished her race 4th with an improved best of 9.22.

Four Livingston athletes competed in the 400m. In the fourth heat, Shawn Wright had a strong final lap to win the heat in a new personal best of 52.80, while the ninth heat was won by Andrew Mitchell who narrowly missed a new best with a time of 60.04.

The final event on the circular track was the 200m in which Andrew Mitchell won heat 13 with a new personal best of 26.84 and Chloe McAlear won heat 26 with a new best of 31.07. Taygan Henry was 2nd in heat 23 with a time of 31.07.

In the shot putt, Robbie Nairn, throwing the lighter 4kg u16b shot, set a new best of 15.00m, and Chloe McAlear threw 6.05m - her second best performance to date.

Shawn Wright and Taygan Henry were the only club athletes in the long jump. Shawn jumped 5.60 which, although just short of his 5.62m best, is a new club u20m record, while Taygan jumped 3.78m, her second furthest ever jump.

Shawn also competed in the triple jump, extending his previous best by almost 30cm with a new PB of 12.19m.

In the high jump, Taygan Henry jumped 1.35m to equal the best she set two weeks ago.
