Scottish Inter-Regional Championships

Over the weekend, at Wishaw Sports Centre, there was a series of Scottish Athletics Inter-Regional events taking place for the different age groups, with athletes selected to represent regional teams based on their performances during the season.

On Saturday, four Livingston athletes were competing for the Central Scotland team in the U16/U18 match.

In the u16 boys shot putt, Robbie Nairn threw 13.99m to win a gold medal and set a new personal best and a new club record. Robbie also threw 30.18m in the discus to collect a bronze medal.

Vicky Dalziel was competing in the u18 girls shot putt and discus. Vicky was 3rd in the discus, throwing 26.47m to also win a bronze medal, and 4th in the shot putt with a throw of 8.61m.

In the u18 boys events, Shawn Wright and Scott Henderson were doing three events each. Shawn was 5th in the 400m 'A' race with a personal best of 53.02, 8th in the javelin with a throw of 31.43 and 2nd in the triple jump with a silver medal winning personal best of 11.92m.

Scott was 5th in the 200m 'B' race with a time of 24.34, 7th in the long jump with a jump of 5.59m and 7th in the triple jump with a jump of 11.16m

On Sunday, Amanda Campbell was competing for the Central Scotland team in the senior women's 400m. Despite the strong winds, Amanda ran within a second of her personal best, finishing 2nd in 59.11 to pick up a silver medal.

There was also a team of twelve u14 Livingston athletes representing West Lothian in the u14 competition on Sunday. Full results for that event will be available soon.
