NJAL Match 3 Highlights

 24 July 2011

The third round of the National Junior Athletic League took place two weeks ago at Sportcity Stadium, Manchester.

The National Junior League is a UK wide league for U20 athletes with Livingston athletes competing in the Northern Premier Division as part of "Team Forth Valley", which also includes athletes from Central AC, Falkirk Victoria Harriers and Lothian RC.

Shawn Wright, who is still just an u17 athlete and who was the only club athlete competing, had a successful day.

In the 200m, Shawn finished his race 7th, breaking 24s for the first time with a new personal best of 23.9.

In the javelin, throwing the 800g weight for the first time, Shawn was 7th with a throw of 29.40m, the furthest javelin throw by a Livingston athlete for many years.

Shawn's final individual event was the 110m hurdles. Competing over the higher u20 height for the first time, Shawn finished 4th in 22.2.

Shawn also ran a leg in the 4x100m relay, with the team finishing 6th in 45.6.

The fourth and final round of the National Junior Athletic League takes place today, with Shawn and Scott Henderson in action in the Northern Premier division match at Gateshead.
