Craigswood Athletics Facilities Upgrade

 29 October 2010

Work is continuing on West Lothian Council's £300,000 upgrade of the athletics facilities at Craigswood Sports Centre.

The work is currently behind schedule due to the bad weather and additional work required levelling the base of the home straight and rewiring the lighting systems.

The redevelopment includes:
  • New athletics track surface, including all runways, in dark blue with refurbished drainage, kerbing and gulleys.
  • Upgraded lighting system including new columns at track bends.
  • Long Jump/Triple Jump - two new pits, with new sand, at both ends of runway, new boards and metal wheel away pit covers.
  • Throws - new full spec hammer/discus cage with 11m gates and refurbished shot circle.
  • High Jump - new high jump mats and stands.
  • Four rows of concrete spectator seating between pavilion and new sports centre building.
  • New judges stand at finish line.
  • Improved disabled access to track and in-field areas.
Training continues as normal on Wednesday nights throughout the redevelopment period.
