Scottish Women's & Men's League Results

 23 April 2010

The first rounds of the Scottish (Men's) Athletic League and the Scottish Women's Athletics League were held last weekend, with the men in Aberdeen and the women at Grangemouth.

The two leagues are the highest level of league competition in Scotland. The Livingston women compete in the Women's League as part of the "Lothian Select" team along with athletes from Edinburgh AC, Lasswade AC, Dunbar RC and Inverness Harriers, while the senior men compete in the Men's League thanks to a tie-up with Lasswade AC.

The two athletes in Aberdeen, John McOmish and Danny Nicoll, both managed to get personal bests.

In the triple jump competition Danny Nicoll jumped 11.43m to set a new PB and finish 4th in the "B" event. Danny's previous personal best of 11.35m was set almost two years ago in May 2008 during a Lothian & Borders League match at Meadowbank.

For the second time in eight days, John McOmish achieved personal bests in the discus and hammer. John threw the hammer 20.41m to finish 5th in the "A" event and managed an identical placing in the discus with a throw of 23.70m.

There were no personal bests for the female athletes at Grangemouth. In the under 17 womens competition, Vicky Daziel finished 4th in the "A" shot putt (8.82m) and 4th in the "B" 80m hurdles (14.46), while in the under 13 girls events Megan Laing finished 8th in the "A" long jump (3.61m).
