Indoor League Final Review

 22 March 2010

The club's under 17 athletes were back at the Kelvin Hall last Sunday with both the male and female teams having qualified for the Indoor League Final.

An admin error with the league organisers meant the club only had a few days to arrange the teams. Five of the eight athletes who competed in the previous match made themselves available to compete and were rewarded with a successful day of competition.

The day got off to a strong start in the high jump competitions. Shona Herron jumped a personal best height of 1.50m, adding 15cm to her performance in the previous match. Shawn Wright then went on to set his own personal best of 1.60m, 10cm higher than his previous best of 1.50m which was set at Grangemouth in June 2009.

In the 60m Shona Herron set her second personal best of the day, with a late spurt giving her a 3rd place finish in 8.56. While in a closely fought boys race Scott Henderson ran his second fastest time of the season to finish 5th in 7.56.

Daniel Fulton finished 3rd in the 800m with a time of 2:15.62, and ran within a second of his personal best when finishing the 400m 5th in 56.87.

There were more personal bests in the triple jump with Scott Henderson jumping a massive 10.98m to finish 2nd in the boys competition, and Eileen Hulse jumping 8.55m to finish the girls event in 3rd place.

In the 200m, Eileen Hulse finished the girls race 4th in 29.81, while Shawn Wright narrowly missed a personal best when fishing the boys race 5th in 25.52.

Shawn Wright had another strong performance in the long jump competition to finish 2nd with a best jump of 5.18m, only 2cm off his personal best. Eileen Hulse was 5th in the girls long jump with 4.03m.

Despite being one athlete short, the boys team finished 4th out of 6 teams, while the girls (with half a team!) finished 5th.
