Indoor League Match 3 Review

Thirty one Livingston athletes were in action at the Kelvin Hall on 21st February for the second round of the Scottish Athletics Indoor League.

In the overall results, an impressive 8 athletes between them achieved 12 "top 3" placings.

In the under 11 events, Ewan Ballantyne was 3rd in the boys "A" string 60m race, finishing in 9.73s and Frank Speirs was 3rd in the boys "B" standing long jump with a personal best of 1.62m. In the girls competition, Chloe McAlear was 2nd in the "A" 60m with a time of 10.07s and 2nd also in the "A" standing long jump with a personal best of 1.76m.

In a repeat of her first match performance, Gemma Hummerstone was 3rd in the under 13 girls 60m hurdles, but with an improved personal best of 11.53s.

There was another 3rd place hurdles finish from Vicky Dalziel who ran 10.38s in the under 17 womens competition. In the other under 17 womens events Shona Herron finished 3rd in the high jump with a height of 1.35m and Vicky won the shot putt with a 9.59m throw.

Daniel Fulton had two 2nd place finishes in the under 17 mens events with a time of 56.5s in the 400m and a personal best of 2:10.2 in the 800m.

In the under 20 womens competition, Sarah Rosie returned to action for the club running 28.8s to secure a 3rd place finish in the 200m and throwing 6.88m in the shot putt to finish 2nd.

In other events, the athletes achieved a further 10 personal bests; Frank Speirs ran 10.41s in the u11b 60m; Louisa Marshall ran 9.84s in the u13g 60m; Chloe French ran 32.5s in the u13g 200m and jumped 3.08m in the u13g long jump; Leah Stewart threw 5.20m in the u13g shot putt; Mhairi Horn ran 9.45s in the u15g 60m; Robbie Nairn threw 8.04m in the u15b shot putt; Shona Herron ran 8.76s in the u17w 60m; Shawn Wright ran 7.91s in the u17m 60m; and Stephen Watson threw 6.50m in the u17m shot putt.

In the overall team placings for round 2, the u17 mens team finished 2nd, the under 17 womens team also finished 2nd and the under 20 womens team finished 3rd.

There were also two athletes competing for the club for the very first time, well done to Hannah Nolan (u11) and Lara McQue (u13).
