Zoe Yule and Shawn Wright have been in action for their universities over the last 3 days at the British University Championships in Bedford, with Zoe representing Stirling and Shawn competing for Loughborough.
Shawn had to first qualify to get one of a limited number of individual places, and he did that last weekend, setting a 400m PB and club record of 48.49 in the Loughborough Students BUCS Trials.
On Saturday at Bedford in the 400m, Shawn ran 49.52 to finish 2nd in his heat and qualify for the semi finals.
The semis took place yesterday with Shawn running a massive PB and club record of 47.89 to finish 4th and secure a place in the final today.
In his first BUCS final, Shawn ran 48.06 to finish 8th in a fast race, with the winner beating the Championship best.
Shawn was also competing in the 4x400m, with his university team finishing 2nd to collect silver medals.
Zoe narrowly missed a personal best in the hammer, finishing 9th with a throw of 41.14m.
In the discus, Zoe secured a place in the final with a throw of 33.29m in the qualifying round. In the final today, Zoe threw 31.70m to finish 10th.
