National Junior Relay Championships

 23 June 2009

For the first time in several years, Livingston & District AAC were represented at the National Junior Relay Championships, with the club's under 15 boys team competing in the 4x 100m event, held at Pitreavie Stadium last Sunday as part of the Scottish National Senior Championships weekend.

The team have been unbeaten in every league match so far this season, so the National Championships were a chance to challenge teams from the biggest clubs in Scotland.

The boys didn't disappoint, and in a hotly contested final, the four runners, Andew Boxall, Scott Miller, Shawn Wright and Scott Henderson, gave the performance of their lives to finish 5th in 50.51 behind teams from Edinbugh AC (1st), Ayr Seaforth AAC (2nd), Pitreavie AAC (3rd) and Giffnock North AAC (4th).

Thanks to the hard work the boys and their coaches have put in over the last month perfecting the changeovers, their time of 50.51 was not only a seasons best by several seconds, but they smashed the under 15 boys 4x 100m club record, previously set at 51.66 in 2002.
