Two weeks ago, at Meadowbank Stadium, five Livingston athletes were representing their schools at the Edinburgh Secondary Schools Athletics Championships.

There were medal winning performances form both Rhiannon Armstrong (under 15) and Vicky Dalziel (under 17).

Rhiannon won her 100m heat in 14.06 to qualify with ease for the final. The final was won in 14.57, with Rhiannon finishing second in 14.62 to pick up a silver medal. Rhiannon also won a second silver medal with a personal best of 4.29m in the long jump.

In the under 17 events, Vicky Dalziel won silver medals in the 80m hurdles, with a time of 13.22, and in the shot putt, with her throw of 8.76m just 5cm off a personal best.
