Scottish Women's League Highlights

 11 June 2009

Eight of the club's female athletes were selected to compete for Team Lothian in round two of the Scottish Women's Athletic League, held on 31st May at Meadowbank, on what was one of the warmest days of the year so far!

In the under 13 girls sprints, Ella McFarlane equalled her personal best in the 200m, finishing the "A" race 7th in 30.0, and, despite a strong headwind, set a new personal best of 14.9 in the 100m after finishing the "B" race in 4th place.

Yasmin Eddie competed in the under 13 girls shot putt and finished 5th in the "A" string with a new personal best of 6.47m, adding 7cm to the personal best she set at the last Women's League match.

In the under 13 girls 800m, Megan Laing was competing in her 6th 800m of 2009 in which she also set a new personal best, finishing the "B" race 5th in 2:49.6, her fastest performance since September 2008.

After a few last minute team changes, under 15 female sprinter Eileen Hulse was moved from the 100m and 4x 100m to the 800m in which she set a new personal best of 2:43.9, knocking almost 8 seconds off her previous best.

In the senior events, Louise Crilly set a new 1500m personal best for the second weekend in a row, finishing the "B" race 4th in 5:06.6, 4 seconds faster than the PB set at the Wishaw CSSAL match.
