Livingston & District AAC's track and field athletes were out in force again while competing in last Thursday's Scottish Schools Indoor Track & Field
Championships, held at Glasgow's Kelvin Hall Indoor Arena.
Eight athletes headed westwards along the M8, hoping to build on the club's recent success at January's Scottish
Athletics East District Indoor Championships, where the Livingston athletes headed home with nine medals.
The athletes didn't disappoint, with under 16 high jumper Mathew
Thomson and under 16 shot putter Vicky Dalziel being crowned Scottish Schools bronze medallists in their respective events.
Vicky Dalziel started the day with the 60m
hurdles, where her time of 9.78s in the heats was just 0.01s off the time needed to qualify for the hotly contested final. However, the disappointment was soon forgotten as her personal
best throw of 9.99m in the under 16 girls shot putt competition was enough to secure a bronze medal.
Matthew Thomson, jumping 1.70m in the under 16 boys high jump, narrowly
missed beating his personal best of 1.71m, though he was relived to come away with a bronze medal after winning a count back against the fourth place athlete.
Under 16
athlete Daniel Fulton also deserves a mention for being brave enough to attempt a 400m and 800m on the same day, and managing to set an 800m personal best in the process!
