Coaching

Club Coaches

To function as a club we need a pool of committed and qualified coaches.

Our coaches are passionate about athletics, with most having a long background in athletics, having started as athletes themselves.

All the club's coaches have up-to-date UK Athletics coaching licenses, having passed the relevant coaching courses and been vetted by Disclosure Scotland via the PVG scheme.

The coaches, who mostly work on a volunteer basis, are responsible for delivering safe, structured and athlete centred training sessions to their group.

Coach Development

The club is committed to improving the standard of its coaching workforce and fully supports those who wish to progress through the UK Athletics coaching pathway and become a qualified athletics coach.

Coaches are actively encouraged to attend the courses, workshops and development days that are run by Scottish Athletics to expand their knowledge and raise the standard of coaching at the club.

To support coach development, course fees are funded by the club in partnership with West Lothian Council.

Coach development is paced by the individual - coaches will never be asked to do something they are not comfortable with. We aim to have new coaches working with more experienced coaches to aid their coaching confidence and development.
